Rockeries add structure to your landscape and create spaces for efficient drainage within your terrain. A Rockery can be big or small depending on the size of your available land.
Many rockeries are build during the Fall and used for planting in the Spring, before the hot weather. Large boulders often serve as anchors for rockery gardens utilizing loose, well-drained soil. Rockeries usually start with sandy soil as a base for efficient drainage. Then boulders, stones, and smaller rocks are embedded to add structure. A rockery can then be filled in with compost, mulch and a variety of plants.
